The online voting for the Gurten Festival Waldbuehne is over and we finished in the 1st position! http://www.waldbuehne.ch 21.01.12 The Birthday Girls are the WINNERS of the largest Rock Music Band Contest of Switzerland 2011/12!!.. THOMAS NUSSBAUMER SCREAMS ERCAN UCAN SQUEALS WILL HIGNETT PULSES MARKUS DEUBLEIN POUNDS		An unlikely meeting of four foreigners from four different countries, The Birthday Girls is a prime example of Swiss Democracy made manifest in music. The Zürich-based band manages, perhaps through its own naiveté, to combine their disparate musical backgrounds into a unique fusion of rock, funk, pop, and soul. The Birthday Girls consists of singer and guitarist Thomas Nussbaumer (AT), lead guitarist Ercan Ucan (TR), bassist Will Hignett (UK), and drummer Markus Deublein (DE). Their sound can be characterized by punching grooves, outrageous guitars, esoteric lyrics and wild stage antics. Winners of the largest Swiss rock music band contest Rock Highway 2011/12, The Birthday Girls are known for filling up every crevice of space in a venue with their presence and infectious energy.
